I made them. More mischief.

Tomodachi demo mischief.

I've been messing around in the Tomodachi Life demo. It runs nicely on my PC, using an emulator. I hope the full game will run just as smoothly. I've also been playing Baldurs Gate 3 sometimes. And I bought a new laptop for travelling, which I'm planning to put Linux on. I want to see if I can get CSP working properly. I'd like to switch from Windows in the future.
On a final note, I've been drawing fullbodies... again. Again. Again. For the 4th time? I hope to post them when they're finished.
The Witch Hat Atelier anime is also releasing tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it, and I wholeheartedly recommend the anime, and the manga.

I ended up playing too much Mewgenics. It's a fun game, though. The hunter class is insanely overpowered, and I've been able to do 250+ damage in one turn with it, mainly through utilising crit chance, upgrading crit damage, using the "double damage next turn" skill, and the ability which prevents attacks from missing. Or, alternatively, using the "marked" skill. Here are my brain creatures in meow meow form.

I've started drawing again, using Miku as my motivation to start, like every other time I emerge from burnout. I've been discouraged by the discrepancy between my traditional art and digital art still— on paper, I typically draw using a 0.3mm micron pen. The difference in line thickness, pen weight and shape, and especially the pen tip size frustrates me. Everytime I return to traditional, it always feels so much more intuitive and natural. But I can't trade the convenience of digital art for traditional— it's why I switched in the first place, years ago. To remedy this a little, I've matched my brush size in CSP to be as close to my micron pens size. I'm aware that some EMR pens used with tablets have similarly sized thin tips, like the Lamy EMR pen. But I'm not too fond of the idea of drawing on something like a tablet. Something portable would be nice, but I also like being able to connect it to my computer directly... perhaps in the future I'll look into it more.

It's somehow been another month... I played Hytale for weeks. Then ended up reading Fata Morgana. Now, I'm finishing up REANIMAL. I did a little doodle on my phone.

Aside from my media consumption, I've been pushing my rotten, empty brain into a more creative state by writing everyday. Currently, I'm writing a short story of when M (Mu) and Theo first met. I wanted to highlight the disparities and similarities between their individual childhoods, or youths. Besides that, I've been piecing together character summaries to use in their respective bio pages. Laying out all the vague— or not so vague— ideas and characterisations that've been floating in my head for the past 3 years is oddly cathartic... I've probably said it over twenty times at this point, but I hope I can draw soon. While I haven't drawn since December, I've been studying a bit, at least.

I've been working on 3D modeling again. I also watched a playthrough of Shadow of the Colossus. It's strange to think that multiple innovations from the developers forever changed game development, and you can still see the effects of them in modern games. Though we've lost or forgotten a lot of old development techniques over time which has led to games looking worse, despite being newer, like texture painting... fortunately, I think a lot of smaller developers continually look back at older media for reference, and keep those older techniques alive.

New, new, new year. I've finally switched over the blog to using externally fetched documents. It feels strangely empty in here now, though. The .html document, I mean. Instead of looking down and seeing 3 years worth of history, there's only blank space. A resounding void of what is to come, or what could be. I hope that this year, it will be filled with hope, instead of the hollow resignation I fear oh so much...
